In the 1990 Jim Belushi vehicle "Mr. Destiny," guardian angel/bartender Michael Caine shows him what his life would be like if one key event from his childhood had changed. Following are the ways in which my life would also be different in this alternate reality.

--Name not RJ but PJ

--Grew up in Williamston, 6 miles east

--Not shut in my locker in seventh grade, but rather that of friend Kurt Griffes

--Wore metallic blue, not navy tie/cummerbund to senior prom

--Parents divorced in 1989

--Found Spike Lee's "Summer of Sam" watchable

--Favorite television show from childhood: "Trapper John, M.D."

--Did not go to the grocery store on August 5, 1981- as a result, did not slip and fall on tile floor, thus causing a concussion with loss of vision. Because of this, I did not have to go to the hospital and the x-ray technician who would have worked on me was able to take an early break and was involved in a car accident which delayed a shipment of milk to the Quality Dairy store on Michigan Ave. in Lansing. A man was late for his afternoon shift because he couldn't get his chocolate milk. That man's name? Not important, really.

--Still graduated from Michigan State University, but with a degree in Packaging, not television production.

--Killed with thousands of others in Overlord Belishi's purging of the masses in May of 2001.
