Cap’n Christmas and a Wacky New Year!

The Wacky Channel is proud to present its very own Christmas special: Emily Jane & The Magic Hobo Save Christmas!

And if you prefer images of the non-moving variety, we’ve got Christmas installments of our regular comics too. Learn why Lois Lane hates Christmas in That’s Just Super and watch as Carl and Peeps help themselves to some presents and make new years resolutions in Making Tracks.

And don’t forget, there’s plenty of other Christmas content to enjoy at Cap’n Wacky’s Boatload of Yule.

And that, Wackiteers, is our last update for 2008. It’s been a big year here at the Boatload of Fun with our new look, new features, and new contributors. We hope you’ve enjoyed the ride and thank you a lot for reading and spreading the fun around. We’re going to be taking a break from updates in January of 2009, but we won’t be idle, we’ll be cooking up plans and getting content ready for the rest of the year. We’ve already got some interesting new ideas and a couple of old ones you might be glad to see again, but more on that when the celebration starts on February 6.

The Gallery of Unfortunate Christmas Cards was or first ever Unfortunate section, but we haven’t added to it since the Boatload of Fun’s first year, back in 1999. Finally, the original Unfortunate has grown larger. So take it from the top here or Jump straight to the new ones here.

Maybe “Takesgiving” would be more appropriate

Today: A new installment of Making Tracks in which Carl and Peeps celebrate Thanksgiving in their own, inappropriate manor.

And since Thanksgiving is all about tradition, re-visit Cap’n Wacky’s Boatload of Gluttony with the Gallery of Unfortunate Thanksgiving Cards and the Cap’n’s own Turkey preparation tips!

After reading all that, you’ll know what to be thankful for this year: LAFFS!

Comics: different kinds of spooky things

This week: new comics! In the latest That’s Just Super, we learn that not everybody is cut out for the superhero business. Meanwhile we’ve got a special Halloween, triple-sized adventure in Making Tracks, as carl and Peeps break into a museum… after midnight!

Due to somewhat popular demand, we’ve got two of last week’s Hope Posters available in a variety of products. Choose from our own Magic Hobo or Tyler “Soap” stuff.

Hope!

Here at the Boatload of Fun, we noticed Barack Obama’s nifty campaign poster and wondered how some other public figures (and fictional characters) might look in the same style. We set the art department to work and here are the results for you!

You know, there are a couple of people there I might’ve even wanted to vote for! It’s an early update this week, because we’ll be away the rest of the week. Enjoy it now and we’ll be back on Fridays on October 24.

Elsewhere, don’t miss “That’s Just Super” artist Katie Cook’s new comic on The Star Wars: Clone Wars website (keep flipping through, it’s the second story). Congratulations, Katie!

Alternating between lower and uppercase is SpooooOOOOoOOOOky!

It’s October, which means it’s time once again to draw attention to Cap’n Wacky’s Boatload of Evil, our Hallowe’en section featuring the Gallery of Unfortunate Halloween cards, holiday lists, a series of angry letters between television horror hosts, Halloween tips and more. Also, the section has been freshly redesigned for your increased enjoyment, and yes we’re going to count that as the update for this week.

Han didn’t shoot first, Han shot only

Singer/songwriter Erin Murray is back with a new song for you to download and enjoy. Erin describes the inspiration for the song: “It’s called Confession, and was pretty much inspired by a time when a very nice looking guy asked me what I was buying at a Barnes and Noble, and I couldn’t avoid answering truthfully with ‘The Necronomicon’, thus realizing that one day, when I get married, and all of the children me and my future husband had have gone off to college, I’m going to have to explain to him that I’m a complete and utter nerd.” Another clue to Ms. Murray’s neriness? She contributes to this website.

I was looking through our archives and enjoyed re-reading Phrases That Sound Like Cliches Even Though Probably No One Has Ever Said Them Before.
