Norman Verne had a plan. He and his girlfriend would go on a romantic vacation together, he'd ask her to marry him, she'd accept, they'd get married, buy a house, have 2.5 children, grow old, and die. Instead, she rejects his proposal and dumps him completely.

Distraught, Norm gets drunk and stumbles upon a crew of pirates searching the beach for buried treasure. Fearing he'll steal their booty, the pirates decide to kill Norm, but are stopped by the timely intervention of Captain Scott "Scrapper" Winchester, submarine captain and thrill-seeker.

Before he knows what's happened, Norm gets mixed up in a dangerous mission in which Scrapper must round up several of his fellow adventurers before they're all murdered by a mysterious mastermind. Can Norm return home and save his relationship? Will he even survive the adventure? And, if so, will he ever be the same?
